Top London Stylist Reviews the Difference Between Clothes and Fashion

The Difference Between Clothes And Fashion

As a personal stylist I spend many hours reviewing wardrobes. Given the fact that we only wear a shocking 20% of what we buy, frankly most of my clients waste money. The buzz of buying translates into the unworn, there is nothing remotely glamorous about this. I have improved since I learned the difference between “clothes” and “fashion” and now wear most of my wardrobe until it wears out.

“Fashion” is last season’s sleeveless jacket. Hugely expensive, but did you ever see anyone wearing this?? This is a non garment too cold to be a jacket, too edgy to be worn often by most in public. “Fashion” is also the here today, gone tomorrow looks that reinvigorate your wardrobe. Shoes are a fantastic “fashion” statement and so are bags. Fashion should be fun!

We all need regular “fashion” hits but we should not pay too much for them. Remember the 80:20 rule, and do not pay over the odds for something you will wear only for a season or not at all. Buy the diffusion ranges or the better high street brands and look to wear for 2 seasons only.

Sometimes we are all hit with a “I will die if I don’t have that” and these instincts should be followed for the sheer fun occasionally but if you let them dominate your wardrobe you will have nothing to wear.

“Clothes” are what you actually wear 90% of the time so spend money on them, buy the best you can afford and look to keep them. A great beautiful coat in your style and colours will last 10 years so buy a more expensive one. The “fashionable” coat will last 4 months so don’t pay too much have fun with it buy a great colour and look to replace it.

“Clothes” are your signature style. Last summer when smocks were in most of my clients bought them, these are now part of the vast unworn in your wardrobe, along with the sleeveless jacket etc. “Clothes” should be items that you love deeply that you will wear for ever. Jackets, jewellery, coats, cashmere should not be dull but beautiful in rich colours. Fit is everything, buy for how you are now, not I might lose some weight or I am fat so I will buy a bigger size this does not work. Buy beautifully cut garments that flatter whatever shape or size you are.

If grey is in and it does not suit you don’t buy it. In short, learn what suits your body, learn what style you are and buy clothes that fit you. Baggy clothes generally don’t flatter and make you look fatter than you are. Go spend your money on fantastic must-have shoes instead or a great piece of jewellery and when things are in the shops that you love, that make your heart sing, that really really suit you, buy them. These will form a great wardrobe for many seasons to come. Aim to be beautiful and fabulous and you will be!

The Recent Fashion Style for Teenager

There are many articles on fashion style for men or female, trends for children, even for pat’s dogs. What about young people? Try marketing a Web site find and you also see that it is good to search fashion teenager rule on fashion tendency are not as simple as it looks in May. Why is it this time? The reason for this lack of information teenage mode is more complex than others.

The latest trend is emotional style. Fashion style is certainly for those who love bright colours. Green, pink, red, yellow, black game, you probably will be visible. If you are in this style, you must have hairdressing: Zelda haircut for girls and Jet Black mop top for a boy. Pen or at least in the form of cigarette jeans with a studded belt is also necessary. Rules for the beginning that are not strict, May you choose what you want, just be sure it is suitable and bright colours. You have to carry large amounts of jewellery, and even better if you punch in the face. Fashion style is perfect for those who wear glasses – it is of great importance and OME love Nerdy one.

Hip-hop never goes out of fashion. Music that speaks the language of the streets is certainly for the young soul rebel. This Hip-hop fashion for teen boys and teen girls is quite changed. Boys are usually wears baggy pants and shirt, and girls chose sexy held. The roof is required for both. When it comes to color – choose what you want. The boys usually prefer blue jeans and white colors, and the top girls are totally unpredictable. Teen girls wear earrings large and rounded teen boys should put on at slightest one ring.

What fashion designers reach this season gothic youth? Although this method has existed for many years and been in many ways, this is the first time the modern. Dressing all-black colouring your hair black, using only the means of black paint or bleaching your face to discuss everything else is black, even the hot trend. Choose large Chunky-heeled shoes; Regardless of whether the wearing of short or long skirt, a close fitting or a free – it’s OK as long as the black.

Lou Razon of Glendale – Designs to Appear in Reflections Fashion Show

For the third time, Lou Razon has clinched the opportunity to showcase her designer clothing at the Reflections fashion show, which is scheduled to take place on 22nd Novemeber, 2008. On this special day, successful business personalities will be wearing the Lou Razon Couture collection and walking stylishly down the runway.

This will be a very different and interesting fashion show because the models who will be wearing Lou Razon hand picked designer clothing are all modern day icons of women with substance. It is not easy being a modern day woman. A modern woman means someone who is able to juggle work life, social life, and family life, all at the same time. She is contributing heavily to society with her professional life, and she is also a mother and a wife. With such heavy responsibilities and a hectic lifestyle, designer clothing for the modern day women must be both comfortable to wear and stylish.

Lou Razon line of clothing has excelled in that. With over 10 years of designing experience behind her in the fashion world, she is well known for coming up with crisp, daring and stylish designs with innovative cuts. Her background in Fine Arts certainly helps in incorporating bold colors and fascinating silhouettes in her designs.

The most difficult challenge with fashion shows is that the line of clothing that is on display must both be elaborate and dramatic enough to capture the attention of the audiences, but at the same time, the clothing must be practical and wearable. Anyone watching the runway show should be uttering, “Wow! This looks like something I can wear.” by the end of the show. This is where the skills and creativity of the designer is stretched to the limit.

In addition, major runway shows like the Reflections fashion shows often feature famous personalities. In the upcoming November show, women with true substance are featured. You will be able to enjoy seeing Cher Calvin, Shirley Gorospe, Maria Quiban, Emma Aldon and others wearing Lou Razon clothing on the runway. They are all successful characters in the business world. And they are also role models.

For these reasons, the pressure is great on the designer, as it is paramount that the line of clothing brings out the best in these models.

No doubt, featuring real life working personalities in a runway show is an interesting move. The message is simple and clear – Lou Razon designer clothing is worn by successful women who knows quality when they see it. Having business personalities on the runway instead of fashion models provides an unexpected twist for the audiences. For sure, this move brings Lou Razon genius designs closer to reality.

Finally, instead of just being blown away by some elaborate designs that only fashion models wear on a runway show, audiences will be able to imagine themselves wearing Lou Razon’s designer clothing in their every day lives.

Everything points towards a wildly successful fashion show that offers a completely different perspective. Get ready to enjoy the electrifying atmosphere during the show!

Fashion: Start Your Private Label / How to Launch Your Own Clothing Line

Creating a fashion line is a question of imagination, it’s all about you: what fabrics, colours, cut and generally the style you like.
On the other hand, successfully launching a clothing line means it has been created, made available to the final consumer,,, and ideally they like your style.

When there’s a buzz, when a new brand of clothes is welcomed by a large public, purchased and spoken about, it can decently be said that the fashion line has been successfully launched.

For a fashion line to be successful when launched, you need to have thoroughly prepared the launch. I like the term “launching a fashion line” because it sounds very similar to launching a rocket in the sky: You calculate a number of factors long in advance, create the rocket and then launch it. At the time of launching, one do not have any guarantees of anything.

You can only hope that all the hard work of organizing the distribution, the marketing will translate in sales. Hope? No, Preparation! Preparation is certainly a keyword. The idea, in my mind, is to do as much as possible before the launch of the clothing line: market research, partners’ research, networking, and advertising. We all tend to be optimistic about the figures, we think that the sales will come easy and we underestimate the costs related to the sales.

All successful clothing lines have been launched by business people who know:
- How to create an event
- How to convince potential distributors
- How to give life to the fashion line with a story
- How to keep the clothing line in the stores
- How to satisfy new and returning customers with new styles of clothes.

When launching your own fashion line, your personality matters, some will start small, some big. Some will have their risk based on research, some on their gut feelings.
It’s important to know yourself and your market so that harmony can establish. Starting your own clothing line might be the best time of your life; it can also be very challenging and rewarding.

To all the ones planning to play a part in fashion and the clothing industry, I would like to wish good luck and remind them that the road to success can be a long one. Your determination will matter.

How to launch a fashion line – Addendum dated 8th December 2008

I suggest that you start by creating your Ltd Company, register your Brand with the local authorities and purchase the matching domain name even if you don’t rely on on-line sales to distribute.
Research your market; find ways to reach your targeted audience. See how you can place your brand in shops.
Do you know someone famous? Associate this person to your business.

Get some samples made, make a list of the changes to be made when mass-producing.
Finally, get a small run delivered to you and communicate on it. Keep in touch with your clothing manufacturer so that you are aware of the right timing to re-new your stock.

Future of Fashion – ‘dpol’ – Eco Friendly/ Sustainable

Over the last years there has been a relative rush of books on eco and ethical fashion published across the globe. We think this is an excellent indicator of the public’s awareness of how, what, where and whom produced the clothes in our closets.

Sustainable fashion is fashion that is designed to be environmentally friendly. Fashion designers have recently adopted the idea of sustainability, using more environmentally-friendly materials and methods in clothing production like reduction in wastage, reduction in chemical usage, usage of scrap fabric, gunny bags etc. But are the apparel made out of them actually wearable? Yes, the answer is Dpol technology which can produce ecoi friendly garments which can actually divert us to sustainability keeping the costs low, so as to influence the fashion market on a big picture

The country where Mahatma Gandhi once created a revolution by wearing a simple locally hand woven cotton garment called the Khadi as a sign of independence is still a leader in terms of textile innovations. From high tech weaving to rediscovering ancient dyeing traditions, India has some interesting new answers for eco fashion design.

The first breakthrough comes from August Designs www.august.synthasite.com, which has taken an in depth approach to garment construction and developed a brand new patented technology called DPOL that produces ready to stitch, shaped, woven garment components. This considerably reduces fabric loss by approx 15-20% and lead time by approx 50%. DPOL supports sustainability by reducing chemical and other wastages (dyes, fibers, yarns, energy) by 17%-20%, thus imparting the eco-friendly nature to the apparels right from the inception of the process to develop the garments.

Apart from the eco-friendly aspect of the innovation, there are many notable uniqueness, some of these are: Continuity of design, proportionate design, non repeatable design and motifs etc.

The DPOL technology can be used to manufacture high quality fashion garments with mitering at various panels. Another advantage is that it can also support smaller orders: with quantities starting at one single unit, one can get garments according to their own fit, style and need. This could open brand new possibilities for sustainably minded designers: presently designers source normal fabrics and do the surface ornamentation (embroidery/prints etc) whenever required .This method gives them the opportunity to put the design into the fabrics. One can have different weaves or designs on pockets, collars, cuffs or wherever required. Weaves can produce different textures and designs as desired and fabrics can be designed as per the final silhouette of the final garment so that right kind of design falls at right place, giving a brand new meaning to custom-made!

Siddhartha is a graduate from National Institute of fashion technology, India. His dream has been to color the canvas of fashion in a unique sustainable way.

Siddhartha has been working with notable designers of India. His signature DPOL technology has been acknowledged and appreciated at National level seminar by stalwarts of fashion and textile industry. Also, won best innovator award in the field of fashion, at NIFT in May’2008. He has enthralled his audiences as a principal speaker for his innovation at national and international conferences and workshops.

Marked with 2 years of research, he invented DPOL technology and there after went ahead to acquire a patent for it. Leveraging on the technology he produces eco-friendly, sustainable, economic, state of art products. His collection showcases the ability and benefit of technology in aesthetics. Not only this, there are many commercial benefits which wraps drastic decrease in lead time, minimal usage of chemicals and minimal waste during production. He introduce to the world a collection prepared using his technology giving a new dimension to design.

He believes in elegance and simplicity, with this he presents to you the brand ‘August’. August is here to dress the world, both men and women in indo-western clothes. Glory of colors, grandeur of design, attention to details, makes the sumptuous dream a reality. August accentuates the concept of freedom and flow as the soul of all ensembles. Overall this culminates to a majestic collection and lives up to the literal meaning of the brand name ‘August’.

Fun Fashion of 2008

Year Fashion Trends 2008: A new year comes up with new fashion trends, but separating the good ones from the bad, and 2008′s new look and trend from the old 2007 has never been an easy task. Loads of new fashion poured this year out of which some were really good and some quite appreciative.

The spring summer collection of 2008 had a lot of things to show up as the days were getting hotter, and clothes getting thinner and finer and the waist line shorter. What girls should be investigating, avoiding and the look they just can’t afford to miss. What’s on the move on the Spring/Summer 2008 runaways, sheer good looking fabric were there everywhere from Louis Vuitton’s coast to some flowery dresses and some Luca’s sheer tailor-made pants and trousers. In 2008 it’s more about covering the skin than a brave attempt to reveal it. This trend is expected to peak in 2008 and will last to the year 2009.

Draping tops and dresses in the fabric range like chiffon are a must buy. There are also some Sunray-Pleats in these see-through fabrics and has a great impact. Some pieces have those small varying sheer designs for everyday wear, such as sheer sleeves of the top, some sheer panels on the various dressings, or transparent looking fronted tops. If somebody is bold enough to try the trend, go for sheer skirts, pants or coats that are in stiff fabrics. Avoid using those figure hugging sheer trends as that gives away too much losing all your elegance in that kind of a look-after all it’s all about the elegance and beauty.

The Lingerie trend for 2008: This trend has changed from the tight fitting structure to the much appealing trend of some seductive and feminine fashion statement, a timeless beauty look. Go for the trend that best suits you and get going for that everlasting look for the beauty in you. Try some of the delicate pieces with softness in the fabric that will meet your soft feminine look of the glamour and independent nature of yours. Most watched fabric was the silk and some shades of satin. Try to avoid using some of that over the top burlesques as it will diminish the fashion look and style in you.

Some more news were from that of new shoulder padding tops that redefines your figurative beauty and have looks of both historic and some futuristic element of fashion. Get some sub tile pieces striking, sharp, with some futuristic styling shoulders if you are an early adopter and want to turn heads in your direction. Try to avoid those power suits as it will leave you with a look of a super woman.
Try to match with these dresses the sunglasses, boots and shoes, jewellery matching to the dress, beauty and makeup styling that goes on with the new trend. Now just go out there and have that trendy fashion flow your way making you look more gorgeous, elegant and feminine.

Deefashion.com offers more details about the world of fashion and is also a good place to find hot models. Alternatively if you want to see funny stuff you can visit our site at http://www.directoryoffun.com/

Fashion Comes Home to the White House – Creating Your Own Fashion Legacy

There is an enormous buzz around our nation, and even perhaps around the world, about what Michelle Obama will wear to the inauguration today. It’s an amazing piece of a historic event – the role that FASHION will play – and rightfully so. The endless newsreels playing for the last few weeks have been looking back at past first ladies and the styles and colors of their inaugural ensembles. And, of course, in this case, there are two little girls to “ooh and ahh” over as well. What a day to be a dress maker!

By now, if you were up early, you saw Michelle Obama leave her (very) temporary residence in a golden yellow brocade dress with a matching long jacket and long silk scarf – smiling and waving to news crews as she entered St. John’s Church in Washington DC with her husband – the 44th president of our country. It felt like every news channel you turned to did a critique of her outfit – how it seemed to match the color of the church – that it was a “happy” color and embraced Mrs. Obama’s joie de vivre when it comes to fashion. That it was classic, and yet still her own. (Who can forget the amount of commentary about her daring black and red ensemble on the night of the election?)

I, for one, love the acknowledgement that the media is giving to fashion today. For those of us in the clothing industry – from fabric designers, to boutique owners, to seamstresses and tailors and factory workers – well, this is a really great day for us. We are center stage all day today – and we know it!

But truthfully, we know something that everyone else might NOT know. We are center stage EVERY day – and it’s not just for the big occasions. (Okay, we don’t all have an inaugural ball to go to, but we all have those once-in-a-lifetime events – like weddings and proms – where we have that “perfect” dress that gets a million photographs.) Rather, it’s the smaller occasions where WE know that we literally make or break people. It’s the first date with the best looking guy in the office. (And it’s the dinner where you meet his parents.) It’s every single day that you go to work. What we do matters. It really matters. We are literally the thread that ties us all together, from generation to generation.

Clothing isn’t just something to buy, wear, and toss away. Be sure to save those special pieces to hand down to your daughters and nieces. Fashion has a way of coming around again and again (can you say skinny jeans?). And what doesn’t come around becomes great stuff for school plays and Halloweens (poodle skirts and white leisure suits, anybody?). For plus size women, there’s also the tremendous honor of having some great fashion in the right size when the young women in your life are struggling – both financially and with their identities. Even plus size women like Oprah Winfrey have shared that finding the right dress in her size has driven her to tears on the MOST special occasions, like the Emmy’s.

You will be more than the hero when you have that gorgeous plus size little black dress for someone’s special New Year’s Eve – or a beautiful plus size blouse to accent a great suit for that big interview. As plus size women, we KNOW how important it is to dress to impress and dress for success! Having those special wardrobe pieces to pass down is pretty wonderful.

I have visions of Michelle Obama’s daughters, one day in the far future, unwrapping beautiful dresses from some treasured garment bag wrapped carefully in tissue paper, and saying to their own daughters, “This is the dress your grandmother wore to meet the King of England, and this is what she wore when she met the President of France.” Our clothing is far more than what it seems; it’s part of our life story. So the next time you have a great dress that you adore, take a picture of yourself in it at the occasion and then, when you save that dress and wrap it carefully in tissue, throw the picture in the box too. We aren’t all “The First Lady” but we ARE all part of a very intimate history to be treasured as part of our own legacy.

Stacy Montgomery, VP of sales for Sealed with a Kiss Designs (SWAK Designs, Plus Size clothing) has built her career around her passion, which is embracing her own unique beauty and healthy, plus-sized body. She says: “I have always been full-figured, and I am a great looking size 16. I am healthy, beautiful, and proud to be me!” Sealed with a Kiss Designs covers everything from “the little black dress” to everyday fashions and outerwear.

Sealed with a Kiss Designs www.SWAKdesigns.com is a leading manufacturer of affordable and trendy plus size fashions.
